Daisy and the Dancing Letters

A Story About Reading, Confidence, and Learning Your Own Way

Daisy and the Dancing Letters cover

Meet the character

Daisy is imaginative, curious, creative, and determined. She loves stories and ideas, but reading does not always feel as easy for her as it seems to for other children.

The story

Daisy loves stories. She loves listening to them, imagining them, and talking about all the wonderful things that could happen inside them.

But when Daisy tries to read the words herself, things become much harder.

Letters seem to move, switch places, or become confusing. Daisy watches other children reading and begins wondering why something she loves can feel so difficult for her.

Eventually, Daisy admits what she has been experiencing: the letters seem to dance.

A supportive mentor helps Daisy understand that different brains can learn to read in different ways. Rather than simply telling Daisy to try harder, she is introduced to strategies that help make reading more manageable.

Reading does not instantly become effortless, but she starts experiencing success. More importantly, Daisy begins to separate “Reading is difficult for me” from “I’m not smart.”

Core message: There is more than one way to learn, and Daisy’s way is still a good way.
